Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) has landed the email domain by launching a new Cloud based, AWS backed WorkMail email service. Amazon is challenging Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) in the corporate space. Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) Web Services are regarded as the juggernaut of the Enterprise. A tussle is going on between Microsoft and Amazon for years. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is coming up with Windows Azure Cloud to sweep off Amazon Web Services but so far, it has only gained the attention of startups and new players. Established industry players and big data entities still rely heavily on Amazon Web Services.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s Outlook and other office products have long been the only solution for the Enterprise. Although email domain seems to the saturated, many Enterprise and corporate domains are still in need of customized, localized and secure email services.

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN)’s WorkMail will charge $4 per users monthly for 50GB mailbox space. The best thing is that it will be Cloud-based and will work on all the existing email clients including Gmail and Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s Outlook.

An article on CNBC reported this news and quoted AWS executive, who said that Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN)’s email solution stands out because it is Cloud based and users will not be forced to install it on-premise. It is also a cost effective solution with many customizations.

Analysts think that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is still the leading player in email solutions in the corporate space but the latest move from Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) is in the right direction. A cost effective, efficient, above all,  a secure email solution is what the modern industry needs.
