Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is set to come up with software that might be controlling your home. Apple already has software that control televisions, lighting and lots of other products at your home. However, the tech giant is reported to go one step ahead now and control most of your home using a new set of software. Apple has recently got a few patents that tell us that the company is going to the kitchen and other parts of your home. All this using the iPad and this is what is truly unique.

Apple

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is not the only one to be innovating in this field. Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has been investing heavily in hardware to create automated home solutions. When asked about this competition and where this market is headed towards, Jon Steinberg, President and COO of Buzzfeed said during an intervention on CNBC:

“Honeywell [Honeywell International Inc. (NYSE:HON)] has a Wi-Fi connected Thermostat as well. Everybody is going into that layer. I think software and ease of use will be what really differentiates it. We see Apple and Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) going head to head right now.”

When asked about the different approach of Apple and Google where Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)  was going with a hardware related approach and Apple is going with a software related approach, Steinberg said: “ It’s very funny and you think that typically Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) would be the one going into the hardware and Google would be the one that focuses on the software.” Well that is correct and the companies have different approaches. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s focus is controlling everything from single equipment, whereas Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)  has a distributed approach.

On the other hand, Jim Cramer does not seem to be very fond of the idea of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) going into the “home control” market by itself. In his opinion expressed during a program, Apple should better focus on controlling the car through the acquisition of Harman. However, in the control of the house, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) stands a better chance by partnering with Honeywell International Inc. (NYSE:HON), or AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T).

Seeing the developments it should not be a surprise if we see announcements on the smart home approach at the next Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s WWDC. However, nothing is confirmed yet and if the company really comes up with something like that, it would really revolutionize the market since it has not brought something very refreshing for a long time now.
