Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is really pushing hard to gain market share in China. Its focus on developers has increased and the company has raised its focus on the Chinese market. Rosalind Chin of Bloomberg was reporting on how World No.2 brand is trying to entice the developers to develop apps for the iPhone.

According to Chin, the main reason behind Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) trying to lure developers is that Apple is currently the fifth in terms of market share standing behind companies like Samsung, Lenovo and Xioami. Apple wants to increase its share and the only way Apple can do it is by increasing the sales of iPhones. To sell more iPhones, it needs more apps.

Chin also mentioned a previous statement that one doesn’t buy a smartphone just to use as a phone. Users need smartphones to increase their productivity and to connect to people online from anywhere they want. It’s actually much more than that. China comes second in terms of number of app downloads in the world, first being The USA. China is the third biggest market for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) in terms of revenue. However, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s China store has just approximately 150,000 apps as compared to over a million apps in the US. On this Chin stated:

“Imagine how much more revenue it could make if they were many many more apps available for the Chinese market. It makes complete sense.”

When asked what Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is doing to change this (the lower market share and lesser apps), Chin said that the company is trying to tweak things to suit Chinese taste. The Chinese market demands apps that are less realistic and have more animations and emoticons. And to develop all these apps, the company needs a good relationship with the developers.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has setup a team to improve this situation and also made the payment process easy for the developers. This would encourage more developers to join the team. It has even smoothed the process for users to buy apps from the app store.

Over 250,000 developers joined last year in Apple’s Chinese developer program. This definitely sounds like a good news for the World no 2 brand to gain its market share in China.
