Though BlackBerry Ltd (BBRY) is now considered a miniscule player in the smartphone markets now, it was not always the case. As recently as 2009 BlackBerry Ltd (BBRY) used to have almost 40% market share in the smartphone market, but it’s history now. When it comes to BlackBerry Ltd (BBRY)’s OS, which is found only on BlackBerry Ltd (BBRY)’s devices, it won’t be wrong to say that it’s not even a competition now. The largest market share as of June, 2014, BlackBerry Ltd (BBRY)’s OS had in the U.S. (just 2%), followed by the UK (1.1%) and both Italy (1%) and France (1%).

Microsoft Corporation (MSFT)’s Windows Mobile is emerging as the third biggest player in the Smartphone OS race, after Android and iOS, though similar to BlackBerry Ltd (BBRY) it also enjoys the largest market shares in European countries.  Microsoft Corporation (MSFT)’s Windows Mobile as of June, 2014, has the largest market share in France (10.6%), Italy (over 10%) and Great Britain (9.6%).
