Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has been pushing hard in revolutionizing a lot of things. The company recently tied up with Shapeways to motivate and involve more girls in coding. We all know Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s glass as a cool gadget. However, it can be a lot more than that.

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL), Dr. Selene Parekh, Google glass in healthcare

Dr. Selene Parekh, one amongst the group of surgeons testing the Google Glass in surgeries and other medical procedures, spoke on Bloomberg recently and he had some really interesting things to say. Parekh is an orthopedic surgeon and he said he initially played around with the glass in the operating room.

However, when he went to India in January for a charitable work, he realized the true power of wearable technology in healthcare. When he met the Indian media, they said that they would want to see the new wearable from Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) in action. Parekh then tried to do a live broadcast of the surgery using a Google glass.

The surgery was broadcast around the world attracting over 15 thousand viewers. Here is what Dr. Parekh thinks about the Google glass:

“It started to allow me to realize that this could really be a tool versus just a cool gadget that’s nice to wear. “

Parekh said that this eye based technology is really going to help healthcare in a number of different ways including being able to pull up MRIs, patient’s medical history, CAT scans and a lot more.

Using Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s glass a doctor can bring in any other expert into a surgery remotely and that person can remotely help with the surgery. The remote surgeon can actually show things by putting his hands over a mat provided and his hands can be seen through Google glass by the surgeon in the operation theater.

Parekh feels that the wearable technology like Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) glass is going to change how health care is delivered over the next century.
