An article on GigaOM reported that International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM) is focusing heavily on Cloud in order to imbibe startups that are stepping in the corporate Cloud sector. The company wants them to use its services rather than Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) web services or Microsoft Cloud platform. It recently launched BlueMix Garage in London Level39 Collaboration environment. It is an effort to nurture startups that are new to cloud platform. International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM) has pledged more than $120,000 in credits for companies using its Cloud products like SoftLayer, BlueMix PaaS and associated. It is more than Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN)’s credit money, which is around $25,000.

The source argues that despite of International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM)’s huge investments, credit money and tech incubation steps, it cannot compete with Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) Web Services, perhaps the only available Cloud behemoth, both for startups and the enterprise. Microsoft’s Azure is another option which is inculcated in the list of viable places by startups. The source quoted a CTO from SF startup, who is of the view that Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) Web Services is the only available option for companies.

International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM) has a big problem to cope with in the coming days. In the tech industry, most of the developers are well versed in Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) Web Services. Even if International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM) gets appreciations on its SoftLayer and BlueMix platforms, there is a scarce chance that anyone would practically adapt it. For example, its SoftLayer platform, which was bought by the company for $2 Billion recently, has an amazing SoftLayer’s bare-metal platform. This platform can help in video processing and games. But Tropo is well ahead of it, which has Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) Web Services integrations.

The source thinks that International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM) with all its qualities is yet not nimble enough to serve the startup needs. The Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) web services are time effective and easily integrable whereas International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM) still has a long way to go.
