Smartphone industry might have reached its pinnacle and climax, but there seems to be no end of startups that are persistent in challenging technology giants like Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Samsung in the smartphone race. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) may have got a great hype and sales records with its latest iPhone 6 but there is a British startup which has claimed that it has something that no company has produced yet. Kazam is founded two former experts from HTC. Kazam has developed a smartphone called Tornado 348 which is the slimmest smartphone in the world. In a program on Bloomberg, Kazam CEO Michael Coombes claimed that Tornado is the slimmest smartphone in the world and it is loaded with features that are not less than any high class smartphone in the market.

Apple, is AAPL a good stock to buy, iCloud, hacking, FBI,

Coombes thinks that people have almost same features and functions on smartphones. What they want is light weight and slim design. Tornado 348 has 5.15 mm of depth whereas iPhone 6 is 6.9 mm deep. Samsung’s Galaxy S5 is 8.1 mm deep. Tornado smartphone is available just for $399 whereas Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iPhone 6 asks for a lax of $865.

Interestingly, Coombes did a slight bend test of Tornado smartphone to show that it doesn’t bend like Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iPhone 6 Plus. He said that his company has done a lot of tests on this phone before rolling it out in the market. Coombes said that we don’t want bad quality in cheap price. The price of this phone is less but the quality is promising.

So far, 1 million Tornado 348 units have been sold. Coombes said that by the beginning of next year, you will see more new versions of the world’s slimmest smartphone. This phone cannot challenge Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) in the US but a low price tag with impressive design can be an imbibing factor in the emerging markets.

Carl Icahn‘s Icahn Capital hold around 52.8 million shares of  Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL).
