In its latest 13F report, Tricadia Capital Management, LLC, managed by Michael Barnes and Arif Inayatullah, disclosed its top three equity positions at the end of the third quarter of 2014. Constellation Brands, Inc. (NYSE:STZ), Air Products & Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD) and Springleaf Holdings Inc (NYSE:LEAF) top the fund’s equity portfolio. The fund revealed that the value of its portfolio increased to more than $590 million from over $476 million in the second quarter of 2014.

 Constellation Brands Inc

Tricadia Capital Management’s largest equity position is Constellation Brands, Inc. (NYSE:STZ). It boosted its position in the $18 billion maker and marketer of alcoholic drinks in the third quarter of 2014. As such, the fund closed the quarter with 685,070 shares worth nearly $60 million in Constellation Brands, Inc. (NYSE:STZ). Its holding in the stock at the end of the second quarter of 2014 was 550,000 shares.

On the insider transaction side, Constellation Brands, Inc. (NYSE:STZ)’s Director, K Jeananne Hauswald, last week offloaded 6,398 shares in the company.

Air Products & Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD) was the second largest equity position in the portfolio of Tricadia Capital Management in the latest filing. The fund improved its holding in the stock in the third quarter to 440,900 shares worth over $57 million from 330,000 shares in the previous quarter. Air Products & Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD) is a $29 billion supplier of hydrogen and helium.

Pershing Square of Bill Ackman is also bullish on the stock. It owned more than 20.5 million shares in Air Products & Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD) at the end of the second quarter of 2014.

Tricadia Capital Management initiated a position in Springleaf Holdings Inc (NYSE:LEAF) in the third quarter of 2014. It acquired enough shares of the $4.3 billion company to make it its third-largest equity position at the end of the quarter. Tricadia Capital Management owns nearly 1.6 million shares of the company. The position in the stock is worth about $50 million.

In addition to Tricadia Capital Management, Springleaf Holdings Inc (NYSE:LEAF) also occupies a large position in the portfolio of Fortress Investment Group. The fund, managed by Michael Novogratz, owned more than 74 million shares of the company at the end of the second quarter of 2014.
