Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) finally came up with its own digital assistant, ‘Cortana’. The company is way behind Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) and Google Inc (NASDAQ: GOOGL) in launching its digital assistant, but if the reviews are to be believed, it has definitely come up with a better product than Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL)’s Siri.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) plans to launch Cortana along with its smartphone operating system Windows Phone 8.1, this year, though the developers who installed the Windows 8.1 preview have been able to use Cortana ever since. Search Engine Land, recently came up with a comparative review of the digital assistants being offered by all the three tech giants, in which it found Cortana to be a good start for Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT).

While all the three digital assistants – Google Inc (NASDAQ: GOOGL)’s Google Now, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL)’s Siri and Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s Cortana do the basic functions like setting an alarm, playing a song or setting a reminder with ease, it’s the predictive search abilities that creates a big difference between the three.

Google Inc (NASDAQ: GOOGL)’s Google Now is the undisputed leader when it comes to predictive search, letting a user know something even before he or she asks for it. With Cortana, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is taking baby steps into the field, but it’s worth applauding when the fact that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) does not have access to too much personal information of the user as Google Inc (NASDAQ: GOOGL) does, is taken into account.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL)’s Siri comes in a distant third or doesn’t even counts when it comes to the race of predictive abilities. Siri is fine when it comes to being a digital assistant but Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) needs to work on search technology like Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s Bing or Google Inc (NASDAQ: GOOGL)’S Google search, if it has to even give a good fight in the battle of predictive search.
