So which are the most advanced countries in South America? Do you like reading about South America? Are you interested in the most advanced countries in South America? Now Insider Monkey gives you an edifying answer, as it has recently published an article about this topic.

When we think about improvement, investments or technological advancements we generally tend to consider North America, Europe, or some parts of Asia – but the truth is that there are several developed countries in South America as well. So it is really worth focusing a bit on these countries and we will be surprised! For example, even Africa contains countries that are much more technological developed than the others.

In order to gain appropriate information Insider Monkey consulted the Human Development Index, because on of their aim was to show that people and their development should actually be the most important and the most relevant criteria for measuring the development of different countries, not just their economy or other similar issues. Also the Human Development Report was studied with the focus on the countries in South America. This report was released in 2016 but the information was from 2015. Some countries can cause surprise while there are some that was expected to be in this list – but they can’t be found here.

We have chosen three countries from the list: Ecuador, Peru, and Brazil. Ecuador has 0,739 HDI, and the life expectancy in this country is 76,1, while the average years of schooling are 8,3. Additionally, the GNI is $10,536. The next one is Peru, with 0,740 of HDI, and the average years of schooling in this country are 9, while the life expectancy in Peru is 74,8. The gross national income per capita is $11,295. Brazil’s HDI is 0,754, which brings it to the 5th place in South America. The life expectancy in Brazil is somewhat similar to Peru, being 74,7, and it has a little bit worse performance regarding the years of schooling – 7,8. However, it’s GMI is so far the best, being $14,145, and this country is definitely one of the most advanced countries in South America. These are really interesting statistics, and data which surprised me very much. I think it is worth studying stats like this now and then.
