Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) are battling with each other in the tech market. Both the companies spoke about similar technology in their developers conferences. Stuff like this often looks boring than exciting. There was not major hardware announcement.

CNBC’s “Squawk Alley” crew and the CEO of Daily Mail North America, Jon Steinberg, discussed about this tech battle between Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL). They discussed how Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has failed in impressing the investors.

“The bottom line is the clock has run out for Google to figure out what to do in the post smartphone era. They got to do it now,” Jon Fortt said.

He said that the Nexus Q was a failure, while the Motorola Mobility business didn’t go as expected and Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) had to finally sell it to Lenovo. Google TV didn’t work either. Now all eyes are on the watch to be launched by Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). According to Fortt, nobody really clicked in the watch industry so far. Companies have been spinning gears, but didn’t succeed. Samsung’s watch launched earlier didn’t work. He says that the new Android wear has to work as when Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) comes out with its watch it might capture the market very soon.

Steinberg was not impressed by developers conferences of both Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) as well as Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL).

“It seems like a lot of bucket of stuff. That’s what the last Apple developers conference was, I know Jon (Fortt) disagrees. This Google conference was bucket of stuff “

He added that all the different options connecting to each other were not that exciting to him. He said these conferences look similar to what used to happen before the major Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) announcements came in. He said he was bored by the I/O. There were also complains about the length of the conference.

Fortt said that the announcements made at I/O were not exciting for a consumer or an analyst. According to him, it’s more about the eco system of Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL). Fortt feels that though the company made a case for the developers, the money still lies with Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) so if anyone is looking for a money making company, they should go with Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) now and he thinks there is nothing that was announced in the I/O which is going to change this.

In Steinberg’s opinion, it looks like both companies are battling each other rolling out nearly identical features. The bottom line of the discussion was that the consumers would stay in one eco system that they like and if a company doesn’t have consumers that would stick to an ecosystem, they are not going to use any of the products of that eco system.

So at this point Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) definitely stands ahead with Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) trying to catch up with similar announcements. Now it all goes down to the announcement of the new watch by Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)
