BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) is trying very hard to regain the market share and dominance that it once used to command in the smartphone market and a testament to that is it’s upcoming smartphone, Passport. CNET recently laid its hands on BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY)’s Passport and came up with a quick review on the product.

BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY), Jon Najarian, Turnaround plan, John Chen, Is Blackberry a Good stock to buy

To say that the looks of BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY)’s Passport are unconventional would be an understatement. In a time when one can’t differentiate one Android device from another and Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) hardly getting any facelift since its launch, BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY)’s Passport breaks the clutter.  The phone has a ‘square’ design with its 4.5×4.5-inch display.

Another unique thing about the Passport is it breaks away from BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY)’s norms of having four rows in its smartphone keyboard. The Passport has a 3 row keyboard, which makes it difficult even for BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY)’s loyal customers to get used to it.

The Passport is not for everyone, according to BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY)’s head of global enterprise services, the device will find its use in certain industries, such as healthcare or finance, which answers why it looks like it has been designed for high-end professionals and executives. The great thing about the Passport is that it comes with a 3,450 mAh battery, which, if you are not a smartphone maniac, means extensive use without the hassles of charging every now and then. The Passport that CNET examined was running on BlackBerry 10.3, an upcoming version of its OS.
