3D Systems Corporation (NYSE:DDD), a global, integrated solutions 3D printing company that specializes in producing innovative and state of the art 3D printing devices and mechanisms has taken the alluring 3D printing technology to the next level, revealing the iSense™ 3D scanner, a new 3DS consumer scanner that can be used with an iPad. In a recent interview on Fox Business, the CEO of 3D Systems Corporation (NYSE:DDD), Avi Reichental, has revealed more details about this new technology, stating, among other things, that it allows the user to capture a 3D sculpture everything they could imagine.

“The real question is how ‘scanogenic’ you are,” Reichental said. He also compares the output of this new technology with a “physical photography” that users can feel in their hands.

What else you should know, aside from the fact that using the new 3D Systems Corporation (NYSE:DDD)’s product you can get 3D prints of your photos, wedding cakes, animals, shoes, according to Reichental, you can print the images out of any material of your choice. You can print a 3D model using this amazing gear using chocolate, plastic, nylon, sugar, and even recyclable bottles of coke.

The price tag also seems reasonable. The iSense, comes at a price of $499 and it is already available for pre-orders.

Mr. Reichental at the end of the interview also provided a brief outlook for the company in general. The stock of 3D Systems Corporation (NYSE:DDD) has been declining since the beginning of the year, and is down 38% year-to-date, however, it’s 1-year return amounts to 32%, while over the past five years it surged by impressive 338%.

“This is all about fundamentals and we think that starting with real manufacturing, patient-specific medical devices, the democratization of localized manufacturing and the consumer opportunities are far greater than the shorts. […] This is a long-term, sustainable, profitable business model that is likely to impact every part of our lives in the next five to ten years,” he concluded.
