In this article, we will take a look at the countries with the 5 highest average carbon dioxide emissions per person, based on Insider Monkey’s latest article. Modern man has to face and cope with several new problems in the age, and COVID-19 pandemic is “only” one of them. Climate change has grown a life-threatening phenomena which hes to be solved as soon as possible. 

And now without a further ado, let’s see what Insider Monkey has tracked about the countries with the highest average carbon dioxide emissions. The United Arab Emirates ranks fifth on the compilation. In 2019, Carbon dioxide emission from fossil fuel was  222.612 million metric tonnes, and per capita it was 22.99 metric tonnes. These are horrible numbers, so the UAE plans to reduce emission between 2017-2050, for which there are several initiatives. Yet, the United Arab Emirates is still the center of business and oil, with continuously growing economy. The United Arab Emirates is followed by Kuwait, another arab country on the fourth spot. In 2019, Carbon dioxide emission from fossil fuel was  98.953 million metric tonnes, and per capita it was 23.39 metric tonnes. Oil extraction and processing form the bases of Kuwait’s economy, no wonder it’s among the top five countries with the highest carbon dioxide emissions per capita. The country’s GDP was around $134 billion in 2019, and the gas and oil sector represents around 40% of the country’s economy and GDP. The country has plans to reduce emissions and use more renewables by 2030. Qatar stands on the second spot of the list. In 2019, Carbon dioxide emission from fossil fuel was  106.528 million metric tonnes, and per capita it was 38.82 metric t billion onnes. Before the World War II, Qatar was one of the poorest countries in the world. The population dealt with .fishing and agriculture, and the country was poverty-stricken. But as of 2019, Qatar’s GDP was $175.8 billion due to its natural gas reserves. Its offshore North Field is among the largest gas fields in the world. To solve the problem of pollution, Qatar Investment Authority launched the “One Planet” Global Sovereign Wealth Fund. The country support green investments and makes great efforts to reduce environmental problems.
