Internet.org, a project dedicated to making the internet accessible globally has come up with a revolutionary partnership with Bharti Airtel to make internet accessible to more people by providing a set of free basic services on smartphones without data charges. These free basic services will include access to Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)’s website.
The organization in its press release today revealed that this service is currently being launched in Zambia, but soon they will be rolling it to other parts of the world. Guy Rosen, the product management director of Internet.org, mentioned that by providing free basic services via the app, Internet.org hopes that it will bring more people online and help them discover valuable services they might not have otherwise.
Customers of Bharti Airtel Limited in Zambia can access the services through Internet.org’s Android App, at Internet.org website or with Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)’s Facebook for Android App.
The list of services includes AccuWeather, Airtel, Google Search, Wikipedia, Go Zambia Jobs and Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)’s website.
