At the beginning of this year, Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) revealed that it plans to release its original series in 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) format, adding that it has partnered with several consumer electronic companies and studios to achieve this goal. While the date of the release of series in UHD was not announced, Samsung, one of Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN)’s partners, has provided us with a clue. The company said in a statement that it intends to launch Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN)’s UHD Video-on-Demand (VOD) service in October. Another company that was mentioned by Samsung is Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX).

Samsung added that Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX)’s UHD VOD service was expanded in Europe, after being launch in the U.S. and other countries last March. As we already know, Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) plans to enter into six major markets in Europe, including France and Germany, in fall. Other three companies that partnered with Samsung to expand its UHD ecosystem aside from Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN), and Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) are maxdome, Wuaki.tv, and CHILI.
