Germany’s Federal Ministry of the Interior gave a thumbs up to BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) when on Monday it said that it wants it wants more of its officials using encrypted BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY)’s smartphones, according to The Financial Post, which had a telephonic interview with the Ministry’s spokesperson, Tobias Plate.

BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY)’s smartphones outfitted with technology made by German firm Secusmart are used by 3,000 officials of the Ministry. According to Mr. Plate, Germany’s federal authority for information security checked several smartphones, but only BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY)’s smartphones were approved as they comply with the ministry’s security standards for use with Secusmart’s technology.

BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY)’s smartphones, which incorporate a Secusmart MicroSD card that acts as a separate hard drive for confidential information makes it so secure that hackers can’t access it, these devices are sold for 2,000 Euros. According to German publication Bild, the Ministry is looking to buy around 20,000 of these devices, but Mr. Plate didn’t confirm this figure.
