Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) has revealed that its users make 1 billion video views every day since June.

The announcement was made by Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) on Sunday when it also announced that it is launching view counts for videos.

“Growth in video views exceeded 50% from May through July of this year, and since June there has been an average of more than 1 billion video views on Facebook every day,” Fidji Simo, Facebook Project Management Director for Video, wrote.

Furthermore, the Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) engineer revealed that more than 65% of video views on the site happen through mobile devices. Simo noted that video on the social network was built by the company’s team to be mobile first.

Furthermore, Simo wrote that “with an update that will start rolling out this week, people will be able to see how many views a video on Facebook has received.”

The new updates to videos on Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) comes after the company launched auto-play videos on news feeds last year. It also comes after the company improved video ranking on the Facebook News Feed in June.

Simo added that another new feature coming to users on mobile devices. He said that when a video is done playing, a user may be shown related videos that the company thinks the user may find interesting.

According to the Facebook manager, the social network is rolling out the updates to its platform because video is increasingly becoming a part of how people share information. The goal of the News Feed is to “deliver the right stories to the right people at the right time,” Simo said.
