Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) are competing against each other in the mobile devices segments, especially when it comes to their operational systems for mobile devices, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iOS and Google’s Android. While both these systems have their positive and negative sides, so far, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s Android seems to be leading, mainly because it is used on many devices built by other Smartphone and tablet manufacturers, as opposed to Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), which only provides iOS on its own mobile devices.
Kantar World Panel has developed an interactive map, showing the market shares of the Smartphone operational systems. So far, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has the most success with huge market shares being captured by its Android mobile OS. The largest shares in June, 2014, Android had in Brazil (an impressive 89% share), followed by China and Spain, (over 84%) and Germany (81%).
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), even though it has smaller market shares, it still managed to capture impressive market shares with its iOS, especially taking into account that it is carried only by Apple’s iPhones and iPads. The country where Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iOS has the largest market share is the US, where iOS has a 31.5% market share, followed by UK and Australia, with 28.5% and 25.5% respectively.
