In CNBC’s Business News, Cadie Thompson started with Samsung’s plan to introduce its Newest Android Wear/Smartwatch in Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOGL) Developers Conference. Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOGL) Developers Conference is scheduled to happen later this week on Wednesday. Zach Honig, Deputy Managing Editor of Engadget joined Thompson to talk about his views on the Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOGL) Developers Conference and Samsung’s Smartwatch.

When Honig was asked about what is special about an Android wear and what is expected out of this conference and what his expectation is.Here is what he thought about the watches:

“They have had two Galaxy gear watches, the first came out about a year ago and then there was a second few months later. But those were developed in house at Samsung. With, with Android wear, Samsung is going to be able to use Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOGL)’s own operating system for the wearable, so they would be able to take advantage of things like Android now, Google now rather, and so for example when you drive thorough an airport your boarding pass will pop up on the phone”

He also said there would be a lot more flexibility that includes phone calls, emails popping up on the watches while travelling.

Thompson repeated that Samsung has had Galaxy gear first and then gear 2 and this is not their first attempt at smart watches. When Honig was asked about his opinion on similarity between Galaxy gears and Android wear and if it is good or bad, he replied,

“Definitely, yeah, I mean I don’t expect to see an identical design, so the Galaxy gear was unique”

Honig felt that the focus would be more on the Software and the display rather than the extra features the older watches had. That is where Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOGL) comes into play. However he felt that Samsung can’t compete with Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) all by itself and might have to team up with other providers in the same market to give a tough fight to the leader in the phone business.

If this watch becomes a success, it might open up a new world of opportunities for Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOGL). The investors would be looking ahead for this key launch in the conference.
