Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has been known for its social responsibility and the company has supported charitable events and relief programs from time to time. The company has decided to take part in the Pride Parade in San Francisco.

CNBC’s Josh Lipton Spoke to Randy Reyes, Google’s Global Diversity Engagement Manager about the Pride Parade and about Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s participation in it. The parade happening in San Francisco is one of the biggest Pride parades anywhere in the world. The big tech companies participated more this year and Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) was one of them. Reyes said that the reason for the company to be so involved in events such as the Pride Parades is because these parades act as platforms to show Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s support to the LGBT community.

“At Google, we firmly believe that its just the right thing to do particularly with all the international LGBT issues that are going on and Pride is really great way to showcase our support for the community” Reyes said.

He also explained about participation of Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) in a lot of other international events and Reyes said that they are celebrating Pride through all of 2014. He said that the company has a lot planned for supporting the community. Over 1000 Googlers are participating in the march and a lot of other events such as speaker series and other social events.

Rayes was asked if there was a particular reason for the Big tech to follow and he said that the issue of LGBT has now become an international issue. He also said that searches from 2004 until today show how bigger the issue has grown into and particularly after 2010 the searches for LGBT community have rose every year which makes the issue important.

“Its becoming more than a domestic issue, its becoming an international issue,” Rayes mentioned about LGBT issue
