In an article on Seeking Alpha, Sean Chandler reported that Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) and Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) have been battling since long on the x86 processor domain. Both the companies have been staunch competitors in the x86 architecture based chips business but now the trends are changing and Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) seems to have an edge over Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD).

Intel, is INTC a good stock to buy, Tsinghua Unigroup, China

Chandler referred to an article on Bloomberg, which says that Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) has taken 98% of the PC market. Chandler argues that there is nothing like Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) versus Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) because Intel has completely crushed Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) in the X86 chipset business. AMD has the last resort in the form of game console business. Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) is heavily focusing on the server side, data center and chips; it has no interest in gaming console business. Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) is taking this as an opportunity.

The article says that on the high-end PC business and low-end tablet based chips, Intel has won the battle. AMD will now try to fight Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) in the areas where is has a change like game console chips, PC and some other areas. Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) will continue to be the chip making juggernaut. Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) is working on a new fabrication process and technology but that will come out on the scene in 2016.

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) will expand its embedded systems business by the end of 2015. Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) on the other hand is trying to get some milestones in the mobile business. The battle in the semiconductor world is going to beef up in 2015.

As of June 30, 2014, Ken Fisher’s Fisher Asset Management owns over 18 million shares in Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC).
