Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) is on its way to reach its goal of becoming the second largest player in the LTE modem market by the end of 2014. The biggest roadblock to success in the LTE modem market is certification and Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) recently overcame it when China’s largest mobile operator, China Mobile, certified its Intel® XMM™ 7262 LTE-Advanced modem. The company revealed this news by issuing a press release on its website recently.

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) is already shipping the Intel® XMM™ 7260 modem, which uses the same platform as Intel® XMM™ 7262 LTE-Advanced modem, to smartphone manufacturers like Samsung. The Intel® XMM™ 7262 LTE-Advanced modem boasts of delivering category 6 speeds of as high as 300 Mbps and supports the major global standards for wireless communications which includes LTE TDD/FDD, WCDMA/HSPA+ and TD-SCDMA, TD-HSPA, and EDGE.
