In an article on Daily Finance, it was reported that despite of the hacks and problems, Sony is leading the gaming console race. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is suffering in spite of the massive focus, promotion and sales claims. The source quoted VGChartz.com, which has issued a report according to which, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox One sales were only 9 million till yet. Sony PS4 outnumber the unit sales of Nintendo and Xbox. This shows the massive tumble in Microsoft gaming sales. Xbox 360 performed pretty well as compared to the PS3. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox 360 sold units were around 84 million whereas Sony PS3 sold units were around 83.2 million.
Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is giving a huge focus on Cloud and mobile. Gaming consoles might be its not first priority apparently, but the company is serious about surging up its unit sales of Xbox in order to get revenue stream improved. It even signed some deals and lowered the prices, but the results are not depicting any success.
The source said that Sony PS4 targets at hardcore gaming customer base. The company thinks that the gaming console is purely designed for immersive gaming experience with high definition graphics and refined experience for all the games. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) on the other hand is trying to capture a vast customer base with Xbox. It is giving home and living room experience, which divides the experience and consequently takes away the gamers from it.
Although Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) succeeded in attracting customers to Xbox with a $50 price cut this holiday season, the Redmond giant will have to go an extra mile to beat Sony.
