In an article on The Telegraph, Matt Warman reported that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) was unable to seize the market with Windows 8. One out of 5 PCs run Windows XP and Windows 7 is still dominating the PC industry worldwide. There is a scarce penetration of Windows 10. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is gearing up to launch Windows 10 in the coming month.

Warman said that Windows 8 suffered a PR disaster. The history is going to repeat itself because the same happened to Windows Vista when Windows 7 was launched to save it. The source said that Windows 8 was based on a sound idea: the devices were going through a transformation phase and Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) thought that Windows 8 will be a great step to seize the market, but it was pretty early for the backbone market for the company.

Majority of Windows users didn’t have touch screen devices. Most of them were agitated because of lack of start menu. They were used to old styled, conventional usage of software, which was completely changed in Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s Windows 8. These factors failed the PR ranking of Windows 8.

Warman said that tablets, especially iPads have killed a major portion of the market of Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT). People now think that in order to get any job done, a tablet and a mobile device is enough. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has its core product and customer base in the PC line. It will have to sustain its business by establishing the fact that PCs, laptops and Windows OS is still the trademark necessity for any solid office work.

As of 30 June 2014, Ken Fisher’s Fisher Asset Management hold around 17.7 million Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) shares.
