Larson, a University of Chicago MBA graduate, joined the foundation’s board of directors in 2005. Bill Gates’ personal money is managed by him, and he is the company’s chief financial officer. Sanderson Farms, Inc. and Canadian Pacific Railway Limited have been added to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Trust’s portfolio. Microsoft Corporation and Berkshire Hathaway Inc. were among the stocks the foundation sold.

Senator Elizabeth Warren said the sale of the chicken processing company to Continental Grain and Cargill sparked “serious” antitrust concerns. In the fourth quarter, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Trust bought 2.4 million shares of Canadian Pacific Railway Limited. When Bill Ackman’s Pershing Square opened a new position in the company on March 7, the stock rose 4.1 percent. Since the third quarter of 2012, Bill Gates’ fund has regularly owned shares of FedEx Corporation. The hedge fund’s FedEx Corporation holdings remained unchanged in Q4 2021, with 1.49 million shares valued at $386.3 million. Bill Gates’ fund owned 2.2 million United Parcel Service, Inc. shares worth $489.5 million in the fourth quarter of 2021. The 18.9-times forward earnings multiple is higher above the one-, three-, and five-year norms. Gates sold 35 percent of his Microsoft Corporation stock, leaving him with 1.93 million shares for $651 million.
