As for me I have always considered that learning languages is extremely important. I began to study English at the age of 11. Then I went to universities and studied many more. It is an impressive feeling to know that you can speak the country’s language where you are travelling. The English language is known as lingua franca, that is, the language used globally in connecting people and making their communication easier. Centuries ago this language was Latin and before it, the lingua franca was Greek. In those ancient times everybody spoke in Greek, and everybody wanted to learn it.

In order to get the right answer, Insider Monkey has consulted Foreign Service Institute, but as a matter of fact it is never easy to make the list of the easiest languages to learn for certain speakers, since many factors are involved in this issue. All of the languages are divided into five categories, and the languages within the first category are considered to be the easiest to learn, while the ones in the fifth category are exceptionally difficult for English speakers, as estimated by the Institute. We have picked two languages from the list: Icelandic and German. There are 350,000 people in the world who speak Icelandic, it is a very strange, but for English speaker is very easy language to learn. According to the Institute an English speaker will need around 44 weeks or 1100 hours to learn and speak it fluently. German is the only language in the second category of languages that are considered to be similar to English, and it is estimated that it can be learned for 30 weeks, that is, 750 hours. There are 120 million people who speak this language.
