Where is the highest suicide rate in America? Do you know that approximately one million people commit suicide each year worldwide (according to the World Health Organization)?  This somber fact is showing to us that suicide is a big problem in our modern world.

There are many factors which result in committing suicide like depression and abjection, desolation and solitude. With this in mind, we can tell that is not only the problem of developing countries because I regret to say these are the aspects of everyday life for many people in the developed countries like the United States.

Just take a look at this grim numbers: according to the World Health Organization suicide has a global mortality rate of 16 per 100,000 people worldwide. Insider Monkey used the same proportion to present the list of the states with the highest suicide rate in America.

Specialists say that that rate is consistently reducing if certain prevention methods are taking place. For example, in Hong Kong, the restriction of the sale of charcoal in supermarket chains was made to prevent people from buying it. That resulted in significant reduction in the number of suicides by poisoning from charcoal burning. The government of Australia made changes to the firearm legislation which led to decrease in the number of firearm deaths. Some countries are changing the packaging of the non-prescription medicine resulted in a reduction in the number of deaths by intentional overdose.

By looking at the map of the United States, we can tell that states with the highest suicide rate are located in the north of the USA like Wyoming with suicide rate per 100,000: 21.4 or Idaho (100,000: 19.2). The most south state on the list is New Mexico with the rate per 100,000: 20.3.
